The best part about long car/bus rides is all the thinking time I get to have during the ride, all the great music I can listen to, and also the amount of sleep I can make up from the previous late nights. But sometimes having so much time in this bus ride isn’t so great, because of all the bad memories and thoughts that pop up in my mind.
Putting that aside, my last trip to Reno for the Reno Jazz Festival has been a great experience. I got to room with 2 of my friends and this random jewish kid who needed roommates. The only downside of said jewish guy was that he was really loud and that just cause we were asian and “ghetto” he kept saying swag and yolo, and I’m like stfu. The band I’m in, Jazz A1, won 3rd place in the top/heavy division high school band. This is the first time we placed in the Reno Jazz Festival in years. Our schedules for the past few days were lame, cause we basically spent 12 hours a day at the University of Reno, aka UNR, doing pretty much nothing. Fortunately, I got to hang out with closer friends this year that actually wanted to do stuff, because last year I hung out with my volleyball friends that just sat in the student union for hours and didn’t want to watch any bands play or go to clinics. This year, I actually went to a few clinics and learned so many things, now I actually want to solo for the next/last concert and tear it up on stage. There was a Starbucks at both the university and at our hotel, so I thought I’d be drinking a lot, but they were both overpriced stores and didn’t care about gold members.
The best part about staying at the Grand Sierra Resort was probably eating at the buffet for breakfast and dinner everyday and all the volleyball girls everywhere around the hotel. Honestly, my goal this trip was to talk to hella girls, but that didn’t happen at all lol. I just came to realize I’m not that type of guy since I’m shy and my looks aren’t up to par to be able to hit on random girls without rejection. Oh well, life goes on. But I did have a closer bond with my band and made new friends in the other bands.
Also, I’ve very fortunate to borrow my friend Daniel’s BBD Studio headphones, so I don’t have to watch Lord of the Rings, listen to everyone talking, and being bored at the student union. Now I have a bunch of HW to make up. Great.
If so, SIGN THE PETITION to keep it from being destroyed! There are currently plans to replace the Carnation Plaza Gardens with an extension of Fantasyland where people can meet & greet with princesses.
I love me some princess time as much as the next person, but getting ride of the Carnation Plaza is like getting rid of a big chunk of history!
